How to make a lavalier stereo microphone
Hi my dear friends. According to your numerous requests in today’s video I’ll show you how to make an external lavalier stereo microphone.
So in order to make a lavalier microphone we need two-conductor armored cable, I’ve got 3 meters here. If there would be troubles with the microphone we are going to shorten the cable a little bit. We also take such a clip which I removed from old unnecessary headphones form my cell-phone, a mini-jack for 3,5 mm and two small microphones, which may be removed from old cell-phones or from simple fixed-line telephones. First we have to solder the wires to the mini-jack. Untwist, put into the handmade third hand and start soldering step by step. As for the beginning, let’s apply some flux, tin a bit. Then solder a thick copper wire in the middle and the colored ones on the sides. It makes no difference which color is situated on any side.
Well done, the wires are soldered to mini-jack, pick it and twist carefully. Now we are going to work with microphones, let’s strip and tin the wires on the second end of the cable. Then we need to solder these three wires to the microphones. There are plus and minus poles. We solder any wire, white or red to any plus pole of any microphone. The minus is common, so you have to connect them together.
Well guys, the main job is done, we just have to make a body for the microphones. Honestly, I’ve been thinking for a very long time about this issue. Firstly, there was an idea to take a body of the pen or a felt pen. But then I decided not to complicate it and just cover the microphones with the hot glue.
A lavalier stereo microphone is ready. Let’s test it.
That’s all for today, my dear friends. Thank you for your attention and watching the video. Don’t forget to press thumb up if you liked it. Also leave comments with your ideas of what you would like me to show you in the next video. Have a nice day! Bye-bye!
Do you know?
If you connect plain headphones to the microphone slot, you may use them like a microphone.
While using headphones as usual, current in the spool converts into oscillations of membrane, and the process goes in reverse using microphone.
